Smoking - October 06, 2009

Recent exposure to secondhand smoke is associated with increased risk for cognitive impairment, according to a cross-sectional study in BMJ.

A long-term study of obstructive airway disease involving more than 1400 adults found that smokers who develop chronic bronchitis before age 50 are at increased risk for COPD and death. Published in The Lancet | Aug 28, 2009
